Here am going to give you the solution to these two biggest health and fitness issues most people face.
Instant & Delayed gratification Environments
Thousands of years ago, when humans lived in an Instant Gratification Mode, stress and anxiety were useful emotions because they helped us take action in the face of immediate problems.
For example:
- A lion appears across the plain > you feel stressed > you run away > your stress is relieved. – Instantly gratified
- A storm rumbles in the distance > you worry about finding shelter > you find shelter > your anxiety is relieved. : Instantly gratified
- You haven’t drunk any water today > you feel stressed and dehydrated > you find water > your stress is relieved. : Instantly gratified
It was built for solving short-term, sensitive obstacles. There was no such thing as chronic stress because there aren’t chronic problems in an Instant gratification Environment.
When you live in an Immediate gratification Environment, you only have to worry about important stressors. Once the threat is gone, the anxiety recedes.
This is how your brain evolved to use worry, anxiety, and stress. It was built for solving short-term, acute problems. There was no such thing as chronic stress because there aren’t chronic problems in an Instant gratification Environment.
Compared to the age of the brain, We are Ancient beings living in a modernized era.
Now we face complex problems. Will I have sufficient money to pay the bills next month? Will I get a promotion at work or remain stuck in my current job?
Will I restore my broken relationship?
Problems in a Delayed gratification Environment can rarely be solved right now in the present moment.
And this stress accumulates over a period and eventually, the physical body depletes all its vital force to stop but fails. hence these people get sick and unhealthy.
Believe it or not, our Modern society is astonishingly new for the human brain to cope up with. It is only recently—during the last 200 years or so—that our society has shifted to a predominantly Delayed gratification Mode.
The pace of innovation has progressed exponentially compared to prehistoric times. In the last 100 years, we have seen the rise of the motor cars, the airplane, the television, the personal computer, the Internet, and Popstars and celebrities.
Nearly everything that makes up your daily life has been created in a very small window of time.
The mismatch between our old brain and our new environment has a significant impact on the amount of chronic stress and anxiety we experience today.
Solution: LIVE THE MOMENT
Shift your worries to something interesting which makes you happy for the moment.
At your workplace.
Think about it this way that: you are just 1 client way from being the most successful person in the world.
or
You are just 1 call or 1 meeting away to acquire that abundant wealth you want to accumulate.
if it is about fitness and health goals.
Think that you are just an hour workout less to drop that 1kg of weight on the scale.
or
you are just a healthy meal away from getting that 1-inch loss from your waistline.
Give micro instant gratification moments to you every day and try to celebrate those dedicated moments once you have done it.
Remember it’s important you needed to celebrate.
Like
What happens to you when you watched that movie in which your favorite hero escapes that scariest beast from an inch of a death trap. you kinda feel delighted. right. THAT is MICRO happiness.
This is how you needed to program your mind every other hour daily. until you can habitually feel more grateful to your life.
What you can do to be successful:
- Make yourself accountable to a program.
- Make yourself accountable to a person.
Make yourself accountable to a program.
- You need a way to measure your progress and track it on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- You need to follow a structured plan, but still have room to move at your own speed when needed.
- You need a daily reminder to practice whichever nutrition, exercise, or lifestyle habit you’re currently working on.
- You need it to be customizable to your skill levels, goals, and how much time you have available.
Make yourself accountable to a person.
This advice isn’t for everyone but it can often make the difference between consistently getting great results or falling off the wagon.
Personal accountability is more valuable than personal motivation for one simple reason: No one always feels motivated to go to the gym or make healthy eating choices.
But if we have someone who’s holding upon us to see how matters are going, we’ll likely do better because
a) we don’t want to disappoint the person who’s helping us and
b) we don’t want to look or feel lazy.
If we’re accountable to another person, we’ll actually do the workouts and eat the food we need to look and feel great. And we’ll do it over and over again, even when the going gets tough.
That’s why the most successful guys become accountable to another person. It could be a friend or workout partner. It could be your spouse. It could be a local personal trainer or fitness expert.
Or if you want to join my online coaching program, I can help you too.
