Reading Progress:

If you’re struggling to lose weight, chances are it’s one (or all) of the reasons I’m about to share with you.

~

01 – You’re not in a calorie deficit.

It doesn’t matter how “clean” you eat, how hard you work out, or how many supplements you guzzle down.

If you’re not in a calorie deficit, you won’t lose weight.

That doesn’t mean you have to count calories, but calories count, whether you count them or not.

Now, in my opinion, keeping a food log alongside calorie counting is the best way to ensure you’re consistent.

And when you go about it the right way, it can actually help you develop a better relationship with the foods you come in contact with on a daily basis.

But whatever you choose to do, you need to be in a deficit.

02 – You ARE in a deficit, just not consistently

Getting in a deficit isn’t the hard part — it’s staying in a deficit long enough to see results.

And that’s because most people have unrealistic expectations for how quickly weight loss should happen.

They expect to see multiple pounds every week, and when that doesn’t happen, they get discouraged.

Another reason it’s is because of the unsustainable methods people use to create their deficit — usually something that requires you to eliminate carbs or sugar.

Eliminating can help you eat fewer calories, but it’s not sustainable for most people — especially if it forces you to overhaul your entire way of eating.

03 – You aren’t fully invested

When motivation is high, it’s easy to commit to a new diet and exercise plan.

But motivation eventually goes away, and if you aren’t invested in the process, your chances of success are slim to none.

The most apparent form of investing is a coach or program.

But you don’t have to spend money to get invested.

You could also find an accountability buddy or join an online support group like the free LFL Facebook community.

You could also create a reward system where you buy yourself something new at different progress milestones.

What matters is that you invest yourself into the process beyond your own motivation and will.
